Premiere of The Used’s new video for their first single “Blood on My Hands” from their upcoming album “Artwork”

In preparation for their upcoming album release, Artwork, the Utah-based alt-rock band The Used had premiered their new music video for “Blood on My Hands” – the first single off the album.

A lot has changed since the last studio album from The Used – in fact, it is their first studio album not produced by John Feldman, who’s worked with them on all their other albums in the past. Their reasoning? They want this album to be different from any other album that they’ve released. Frontman Bert McCracken said in AP magazine about the change: “In the past, we’ve always kind of brought pop sensibility into heavy rock, but this is going to be all that much more tantalizing and brutal. Our songs are 10 times messier and noisier than they’ve ever been.”

And sure enough, tantalizing and brutal are the key themes in the new video for “Blood on My Hands” – but fear not, it is exactly what the band wants! Bert explains, “The basic concept of the video is about a creepy child molesting serial killer who’s brutalizing this small American town and I get really obsessed with the serial killer and take the law into my own hands, hunt him down, and brutally murder him.  Then I get caught by the police and convicted for all of the crimes that he’s committed, and they hang me.”

Check out the new video below, fresh off the cutting floor. Artwork is to be released on September 1st, 2009.

Microsoft Ad Causes Viewers To Feel Sick

by dionroy on Jul.06, 2009, under Public Relations

Microsoft recently went overboard with their “creative” advertising ideas. Their latest online-only advertisement for its Internet Explorer 8 Web browser offended viewers which eventually led to its removal.

Titled ” O.M.G.I.G.P.” as in “Oh my god I’m going to puke”, the ad shows a married couple sitting at the kitchen table while the  husband uses the internet. Moments later his wife asks to borrow the laptop and begins browsing the internet until she finds a disturbing website in his browser’s history file. The website (unable to be seen by viewers) is clearly repulsive and causes the wife to vomit uncontrollably all over the kitchen and on her husband!

From watching the video one would guess the website she is viewing is more than likely pornographic and highly offensive. The “comedic” yet failed message behind the ad is:  “Tell him to download Internet Explorer 8 and start using in-private browsing so he never leaves anything in the history and you will never be surprised by hairy (bleeped out).com again.- Internet Explorer 8, browse better.”

If you think you can stomach it, check out the video for yourself below:
