Disney To Re-Release More Classics in 3-D
by admin on Oct.11, 2011, under Public Relations
The recent success of Disney’s classic film The Lion King in 3-D theaters has prompted the media giant to consider releasing other hit films in 3-D. The New York Times reports that Disney has confirmed it will release Finding Nemo, The Little Mermaid and Monsters Inc. in 3-D in 2012 and 2013. Similar to The Lion King; each film will have a limited 3-D run in theaters.
The great success of The Lion King seems to have changed Disney’s mind. Initially the house of mouse insisted that it would not be using The Lion King to see how interested audiences were in re-releasing classics in 3-D. However, the film has made $80million dollars in sales in less than one month which probably influenced the green light on the other films. Also, don’t forget about all of the toys, games and other merchandise from The Lion King that have been placed in the front of stores, or sold online.
3-D films seem to be the way a lot of studios are trying to add the “wow factor” that will encourage consumers to spend money to see their product. Disney seems to have taken this a step further and is not only releasing new family films in 3-D but also releasing films that will target a wider audience. By releasing these classics, Disney will not only attract small children and their families, but also teenagers and young adults who will want to see some of their favorite childhood moves in 3-D.

A Refreshing Look on Popular Television
by admin on Sep.08, 2011, under Public Relations
With the recent influx of reality franchises such as Jersey Shore and The Real Housewives, many would say that the quality of television today has taken a turn for the worst. I however am thankful for this increase in somewhat mindless yet thoroughly addictive programming because I get to enjoy New York Magazine’s recaps the day after its original airing.
When a friend first suggested I check out NY Mag’s Vulture recap of Gossip Girl I figured it would be your standard “this is what happened last night on the Upper East Side” article. Thankfully, I was wrong. The well-written, satirical view the recap takes on the show is entertaining to both fans and critics alike.
Luckily for readers; Vulture does not only review Gossip Girl but also all the other shows people either love, or love to hate. These include Jersey Shore, Glee, The Real Housewives, and True Blood; just to name a few. However, be warned; I usually find myself laughing every 10 seconds due to something I have just read in a recap. Therefore I wouldn’t recommend reading them in a silent library, or on your iPhone in the middle of class.
Its interesting to see a publication such as New York Magazine appreciate the addictiveness of these shows while making fun of them at the same time. The writers of the recaps should be applauded for maintaining the balance between both appreciating and ridiculing the programs.
So with the upcoming fall season about to kick off, and Bravo and MTV programming already in full swing- don’t forget to check out Vulture on Nymag.com to get a refreshing look on the invigorating and intellectually stimulating program you watched the night before.
